Maca (Lepidium meyenii) known as
Peruvian Ginseng, is a root vegetable that
is grown at altitudes of over 10,000 feet
above sea level in the harsh terrain of the
Peruvian Andes. Maca is considered to be
an adaptogen and is famed for its fertility
enhancing properties. In traditional Andean
culture, has been used to combat fatigue,
improve stamina, for male impotence,
menstrual disorders and as an aphrodisiac.
Practitioners use Maca to assist with stress
relief as it is thought to be helpful in building
up the strength of the adrenal glands.
